Richard Thomas'

Summer Intensive Art Camp

Master artist, educator, and mentor Richard C. Thomas will offer a summer intensive art camp for youth ages 5-18.  The program will offer classes in 2-dimensional design with a concentration on painting and drawing techniques with special lessons in portfolio building.

World-renowned artist and Art educator, Richard C. Thomas has established himself as a New Orleans based artist. His artwork can be seen throughout the city, from the murals at the Louis Armstrong International Airport and the columns underneath the Claiborne Bridge to posters that commemorate the celebration of Mardi Gras and the Jazz Festival, and have become some of the most collectable and sought out works of art in New Orleans.  For many years, Thomas has devoted himself to inspiring and mentoring the young artists (the next generation) of New Orleans.  Some of those artists are Gary Mack who became a senior car designer at the age of 21 and designed to 2003 Buick for General Motors, Gustave Blache III whose recent portraits of renowned chef Leah Chase sold out at the New Orleans Museum of Art in 2013, Kyle Scott who recently directed a feature movie for HBO and Terrance Osborne who recently created a poster for the Heineken beer official 2015 ad campaign, to name a few.  Thomas is continuing to offer young people the opportunity for intensive study of art at his summer camp.  Thomas has always remained conscious of supporting young artists through art education. Many of these young artists have pursued careers in art and have had great success.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity. Students will be encouraged to maintain a sketchbook and portfolio throughout the sessions.  Thomas will make prints available for parents to solicit to go towards helping with tuition.

Your donations go to creating an amazing experience to a child that may be deprived based on financial woes. No child should ever be deprived of such an enriching experience in the arts due to lack of financial means, so your donations are applied to children that demonstrate a need and exceptional ability, supplies, staff and other operational needs. Donations of supplies are also greatly appreciated and accepted.
